They say 'Time never stands still even at Highclere Castle' but it certainly did over the weekend of the 9th & 10th September with a Vintage Garden Party in true Downton Abbey style!  Dressed in vintage attire, guests enjoyed a wonderful variety of nostalgic entertainment from vintage cars, a beautiful carousel, brass band, morris dancers and even a policeman on stilts - now that's a tall order!

A special appearance from 'Josephine' the citroen van, managed by Luis and the team, served delicious cocktails & coffee. Guests enjoyed a delicious, traditional picnic lunch  & glass of Pimms before trying their skills mastering the 'Charleston' in the dance marquee!

Highly anticipated prizes were awarded by Lord & Lady Carnarvon for the 'Best Dressed' categories.

Perhaps the romance and nostalgia of the day became overwhelming for one lucky lady, who's partner got down on one knee and performed the ultimate proposal at Jackdaws Castle, (a folly built in 1743 to highlight the wonderful view to/from the folly to the castle). Congratulations to you both!

Of course these magnificent events are only ever possible with the continued generosity & tireless work of Lord & Lady Carnarvon and their amazing Event Team at the Castle.

Event tickets at Highclere Castle are much sought after so don't forget to check the Highclere Castle website for forthcoming event dates for your diary! After all, Christmas is just round the corner...!
